Egyptian diplomat dies in Dar

Dar es Salaam. An Egyptian diplomat died on Friday morning after plunging from an eight-floor apartment in the city.
Police confirmed Ahmed Khalaf, who arrived in Tanzania over a month ago died on the spot from injuries sustained in the fall.
Ilala police commander Marieta Minagi said preliminary investigations suggested the diplomat could have taken his own life.
Ms Minagi told The Citizen on Sunday that the diplomat blocked the entrance door of his apartment with a couch before exiting.
She said security guards at one of the buildings along Mindu Street in Upanga heard a bang and when they approached the area,they found Khalaf’s body and identified him as a tenant in the building.
He sustained injuries, including a skull fracture.
“The last person to speak with the deceased, according to his phone, was his wife at 5:45 pm on Thursday; investigations to establish what transpired during the incident are underway,” said the RPC.
The body meanwhile was immediately removed and arrived in Cairo yesterday where it was handed over to his father for burial.arrangements.
