The petitioners, among other things, have asked
the court to order the Prime Minister to publicly withdraw his
statement on the grounds that it violates human rights as enshrined in
the Constitution.
The High Court will on September 16 begin to
hear a petition by the Legal and Human Rights Centre (LHRC) and
Tanganyika Law Society against Prime Minister Mizengo Pinda over remarks
he made in Parliament in June.
The matter will be heard by a three-judge bench
comprising Principal Judge Fakihi Jundu, Mr Justice Fauz Twaibu and Mr
Justice Augustine Mwarija

They say Mr Pinda ordered security agencies to use violence against civilians in blatant disregard of the Constitution.
Prime Minister Pinda made the statement on June 20
this year when responding to a supplementary question by Mr Murtaza
Mangungu (Kilwa North-CCM).
