Sweden : PhD position in Psychology

Project description: The position is part of a project on the interplay of cognitive, personality and social psychological processes underlying group attitudes (e.g., prejudice) and group behaviors.


The candidate is expected to have good knowledge of personality and social psychological theory and research. The candidate should have experience in experimental as well as non-experimental empirical research within the area, demonstrated in, for example, a Master's or Bachelor’s thesis. Knowledge about statistical analyses is necessary, and the candidate is expected to master at least one major statistical software packages. Good skills in writing scientific papers in English, as well as experience in international publishing, are considered advantageous. 


To qualify for a doctoral position in Psychology at Uppsala University, the applicant must have a master´s degree either including or in addition a minimum of  90 Swedish study credits in psychology. Applicants who have obtained qualifications equivalent or comparable to the criteria described above abroad are also eligible to apply. The doctoral student will primarily engage in research. Other work at the Department such as teaching and administration can optionally be included in the employment (20%). The rules governing this process can be found (in Swedish) in Högskoleförordningen 5 Chapter 1-7 §§.

Financing: These positions are financed through a combination of grants and department resources. The successful applicant will be supported the first year with a doctoral grant and the remaining three years by an employment as a Ph.D student.
