The MP for Nzega Dr Hamis Kigwangalla has vowed to disclose names of persons involved in the ongoing drug syndicate in the course of the parliamentary session which begins in Dodoma tomorrow that has moved the country from a transitional port to a final destination endangering the lives of numerous youth and other prone groups.

The development came via social media when the MP placed the following post on his Facebook page:

“Drug saga: There are many people on the streets who allege to know the names of drug dealers. I sacrifice my self to name them in the parliament meetings … I beg every one with accurate information on any person who is known to be in the trafficking business to inform me …let us stop politics and rumors which have no benefits, bring information to me, let us take action”.

Speaking exclusively to The Guardian via a phone interview, the lawmaker said that he had been collecting and analyzing information on drug dealers for a long time and so is well informed and ready to bring the matter to light and see all involved brought to justice.

Nonetheless, the MP admits that most of the allegations are just that, unfounded claims.

“There have been persons who have come up with names of accused drug dealers. Also there is a list which was presented to President Jakaya Kikwete, I have gone through both reports and found information not genuine,” he said.

Dr Kigwangalla made it clear that he will give a private motion in parliament and in fact he has already requested the Speaker’s office to grant him permission to do so saying: “I want to do this in parliament...I now wait for the answer from the parliament offices,” he insisted.

Should parliament deny him the opportunity to present the names to the public then the MP says he will call for a press conference where he will list out the names.
Dr Kigwangalla said he has been receiving numerous submissions in response to his Facebook posting and has promised to make a follow up likewise he has called on the government to take action rather than make false promises.
